ROME, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and his Italian peer Guido Crosetto have inked a military agreement as part of efforts to enhance collaboration and coordination, and share expertise in different fields.
The deal was signed during Sheikh Abdullah's visit to Italy where he met with his Italian peer, Kuwait's Ministry of Defense said in a press release on Tuesday.
The step also seeks to develop joint action system between the two countries' armed forces, it added.
Upon arrival in Rome, Sheikh Abdullah was given an official military reception.
It elaborated that both sides discussed issues of common interest, mainly the ones related to regional and international developments, and international endeavors toward achieving stability and security.
The meeting reviewed the Kuwait-Italy relations, and focused on horizons of close cooperation in defensive and military fields, along means of bolstering the strategic partnership of both sides, it stated.
Deep-rooted relations between Kuwait and Italy are based on firm bases of constructive cooperation and long-standing strategic partnership in varied fields, the statement said, citing Sheikh Abdullah.
He referred to reciprocal eagerness to continue military and defensive collaboration between the two friendly countries in a manner that meets common aspirations.
Sheikh Abdullah visited Italy's memorial which immortalizes the sacrifices of the country's armed forces, and was briefed on the memorial's facilities and historic contents.
The signing ceremony featured some military officials and commanders from both sides. (end) ajr.hm
