WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held official talks with his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, focusing on key international issues, foremost among them the situations in Venezuela and Iran, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war.
In a press statement on Monday, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the Department of State Tommy Pigott said that Rubio and Wadephul discussed "pressing global challenges including securing supply chains, ensuring that Venezuela can no longer be an operating hub for the activities of our adversaries around the world."
Pigott added that the talks also addressed ways to advance efforts toward achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of preventing Iran from developing or acquiring a nuclear weapon.
He noted that the two ministers stressed their commitment to strengthening the US-German partnership in addressing these vital priorities. (end)
