KUWAIT, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- The Legal Advice and Legislation Department launched a specialized training program Sunday for its members in cooperation with the French State Council, focusing on double taxation, taxation authority powers, and the protection of public freedoms.
The initiative is part of the ongoing cooperation protocol between Kuwait and France.
In a statement to KUNA, Undersecretary of the Legal Advice and Legislation Department for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Adviser Haitham Al-Ruwaished, said the program reflects the department's commitment to developing the expertise of its members and providing them and other specialists with an opportunity to stay updated on legal developments across various fields.
Al-Ruwaished noted that the training program covers topics including double taxation, the powers of legislative and executive authorities in imposing taxes, and practical applications of public freedoms protection in France.
Meanwhile, Deputy Undersecretary Huda Al-Sawan emphasized that the program includes contemporary legal lectures addressing key practical challenges in legal and administrative work. She described the initiative as an extension of fruitful institutional cooperation, aimed at enhancing comparative legal dialogue and building sustainable knowledge partnerships.
The program invited representatives from the Supreme Judicial Council, the Kuwait Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, and a selection of academics from Kuwait University and other universities to foster institutional dialogue and knowledge integration among national legal authorities.
French State Council adviser Jean-Luc Matt highlighted that his sessions will focus on how state authorities handle taxation, the distribution of tax powers among states, and France's experience in balancing state powers with citizens' rights and public freedoms to ensure proper law application.
The training program represents Kuwait's continued efforts to enhance professional expertise, promote legal knowledge, and strengthen international cooperation in legal and administrative fields. (end) nsh.aa
