CAIRO, Jan 9 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed on Friday that Egypt rejects any practices that undermine the unity of Palestinian territories or divide the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty made the statement during his telephone conversation with European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica, as part of continued coordination and consultation on boosting relations between Egypt and the EU.
Abdelatty informed Suica about the latest developments towards different regional dossiers and Egypt's efforts for de-escalation in the region.
Regarding Gaza developments, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's endeavors to implement the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan.
He stressed the need of preparing for the next stage, including the announcement of forming a Palestinian interim technocratic committee to manage daily affairs of citizens in the Gaza and an international stability force.
During the call, Egypt's top diplomat also focused on his country's efforts to ensure the flow of humanitarian, medical and relief aid to create the environment required to start the early recovery path and rebuilding in Gaza.
He commended the EU-Egypt developed relations and confirmed that the first summit held between the two sides on October 22 formed a robust push for common cooperation mainly regarding the implementation of the six key points of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
In addition, the minister welcomed the launch of the "Mediterranean charter" at the end of November that aimed at enhancing full integration among the Mediterranean countries, in the face of common challenges, and benefit from cultural, social and economic opportunities.
The call also covered sharing visions on the plan of action on the charter. (end)
