KUWAIT, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Tareq Al-Roumi affirmed on Sunday that Kuwait remains committed to supporting joint efforts aimed at promoting the recovery of the global economy and achieving balance in the oil market.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Oil following Al-Roumi's participation in a virtual meeting of the eight countries involved in the agreement on the gradual exit from voluntary oil production cuts under the OPEC+ framework.
He emphasized that working within the OPEC plus alliance constitutes a fundamental pillar for reinforcing the stability of energy markets.
Al-Roumi said the meeting falls within the framework of ongoing coordination among participating countries to closely monitor developments in the oil market on a monthly basis, which enhances market stability and supply security.
He praied the decision of the eight countries to continue maintaining production rates for the months of February and March 2026, noting that Kuwait's production rate since December is 2.580 million barrels per day. He added that it was agreed that the next meeting would be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting included, alongside Minister Al-Roumi, Kuwait's Governor to OPEC Mohammad Al-Shatti and Kuwait's National Representative to OPEC Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah. (end)
