GAZA, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Health authorities on Tuesday warned that cancer patients in the Gaza Strip face grave danger that could lead to many deaths due to the Israeli occupation's insistence on keeping crossings closed and allowing only minimal cancer medicines to enter.
The medical director of the Gaza Cancer Center, Dr. Mohammad Abu Nada, said in press statements received by KUNA, that cancer patients in Gaza are facing what he described as a "slow death sentence," warning of an unprecedented humanitarian and health catastrophe with irreversible consequences.
Abu Nada said shortages of oncology medicines, lack of diagnostics, closed crossings, and travel bans form a "triangle of death," stressing urgent evacuation for treatment outside the Gaza Strip requires immediate action by all concerned parties.
This comes amid unprecedented deterioration of the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip due to acute medicine shortages, closure of many facilities, sustained pressure on hospitals, worsening patient suffering, and limiting ability to deliver care. (end) wab.ahm
