MOSCOW, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Russia affirmed Tuesday it will not withdraw from negotiations with Ukraine and will continue dialogue primarily with the United States, while maintaining existing political communication channels.
The statement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov after Moscow accused Kyiv on Monday of launching a drone attack targeting the residence of President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region.
Peskov said the incident constituted an act of terrorism aimed at undermining political efforts and disrupting negotiations over the Ukrainian crisis, adding that the attack also targeted international efforts to reach a political settlement, including initiatives led by US President Donald Trump.
He noted that Moscow will deal with the military repercussions of the incident in a manner it deems appropriate, stressing that Russian forces are aware of the nature, timing, and means of the response, without going into further details.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had accused Ukraine on Monday of carrying out the drone attack, saying Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed all drones without casualties.
For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha denied the incident in a post on social media platform X, saying Russia had provided no tangible evidence to support its claims. (end) dan.onm
