KUWAIT, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the successful completion of two heart transplant surgeries at the Salman Al-Dabbous Cardiac Center, bringing the total number of heart transplants performed in Kuwait to 13 since the launch of the National Heart Transplant Program.
In a statement on Monday, MoH said that this accomplishment represents a significant addition to the country's organ transplant programs, reflects the capabilities of the national healthcare system and reinforces Kuwait's position among nations capable of providing advanced heart transplant services.
This enhances the quality of life for patients with end-stage heart failure and indicates the rapid development of the local heart transplant program, providing a crucial treatment option for patients with advanced heart failure.
It also strengthens medical self-sufficiency and confirms the readiness of national teams to handle complex, high-risk surgeries, representing a strategic step forward in building a robust national organ transplant system.
According to the statement, Professor Riyad Tarazi, a consultant cardiac surgeon at the Salman Al-Dabbous Cardiac Center, praised this achievement, noting that 2025 alone saw eight successful heart transplants.
The MoH continues to establish a national medical presence in the field of heart and organ transplantation, affirming that Kuwait is steadily moving towards high-level health services led by specialized cadres and competencies and strategic investments in human capital and medical infrastructure.
