RIYADH, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- The joint command of the Coalition to Support the Legitimacy in Yemen warned on Saturday that any military movements against de-escalation would be dealt with directly.
General Turki Al-Malki, the coalition official spokesperson, said in a statement that any military movements contrary to the de-escalation efforts would be dealt with directly and promptly for sake of protecting civilian lives and ensuring success of the Saudi-UAE efforts.
Gen. Al-Malki indicated that the coalition was responding to a request by the head of the Yemeni presidential council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, to take immediate measures and protect the civilians in Hadramout "where grave and horrific breaches have taken place by armed elements of the southern transitional council." He also noted that the command warning was made amid the joint intensive efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for de-escalation, calling for withdrawal of the southern forces, handover of the military camps to the homeland shield forces and enabling the local authority to fulfill its responsibilities.
The spokesperson affirmed the joint command support for the legitimate government and urged all parties to shoulder the national responsibility and respond to the peace efforts for maintaining security and stability in Yemen. (end) kns.rk
