JEDDAH, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Friday the Israeli occupation's recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, considering it a violation of Somalia's sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity.
In a statement, the OIC reiterated its full solidarity with Somalia and its unwavering support for its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its legitimate institutions.
It emphasized the necessity of adhering to the principles of the OIC Charter, the UN Charter, and international law, all of which stipulate respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states.
The OIC stressed the importance of maintaining security, peace, and stability in the Horn of Africa region and expressed unequivocal rejection of any measure risk undermine regional stability.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the recognition of Somaliland as an "independent and sovereign state". (end) fn.ibi
