KUWAIT, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- The Rahma Global Society launched the first phase of its emergency shelter project, sending relief trucks carrying approximately 3,000 tents to displaced and affected families in Gaza, along with 1,000 latrines, in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC).
The Society's Director General Dr. Isa Al-Dhafiri told KUNA on Monday that this aid comes at a critical time, amidst heavy rain and bitter cold, with the aim of providing a minimum level of protection and contributing to saving thousands of displaced people from sleeping in the open after losing their homes.
Shelter projects are a top priority at this stage, given the worsening humanitarian situation and rapidly evolving needs, added Al-Dhafiri, noting the Society is working to expand its relief response to ensure it reaches the largest possible number of affected families.
He explained that these efforts complement a series of relief projects recently implemented by the association in Gaza, where it distributed meals as part of the "100,000 Meals" campaign, targeting affected families and displaced people.
Al-Dhafiri expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the generous donors and the facilitation provided by Kuwaiti official bodies supporting this humanitarian mission. (end)
