GAZA, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- Scores of Gazans on Saturday held a funeral procession for six martyrs including children who lost their lives in bombardment by the Israeli occupation forces targeting a refugees' shelter in Al-Tuffah district east of Gaza City over the night.
The Israeli occupation forces hit a school converted in a refugees' shelter during a wedding, said Fares Affanah, director of emergency at Al-Shifaa Hospital in a statement. They had prevented, for hours, paramedics from reaching the scene, he added.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson of the civil defense, told KUNA that the medical teams collected bodies of six martyrs from the bombarded school building, with no reports about "missing persons." Panicked refugees at the damaged school fled the compound fearing recurrence of the deadly attack, he added, indicating that some of them could not find a place to settle and had to stay in the open east of Gaza city, amid biting winter cold.
According to local reports, number of the Palestinian martyrs in Gaza since the cease-fire declaration last October has exceeded 400. (end) wib.rk
