KUWAIT, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya stated Monday that the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council comes at a "delicate time" that requires "great efforts." He expressed his confidence in Manama's ability to effectively lead the pan-Gulf organization at this important stage.
Minister Al-Yahya said this during a celebration held Monday at the Bahraini Embassy in Kuwait to mark the National Day and 26th anniversary of the Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa's accession to the throne.
The Kuwaiti top diplomat expressed his sincere congratulations to the Bahraini leadership and people on this national occasion, wishing them continued progress and prosperity.
The Bahrain embassy's ceremony was also attended by Kuwait's Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah, a number of foreign ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait.
For his part, Bahrain's Ambassador to Kuwait Salah Al-Maliki commended the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait.
Al-Maliki pointed out that the Bahrain's foreign policy is based on moderation and constructive cooperation and aims to promote the values of dialogue, coexistence, peace, and sustainable development.
He noted that these pillars have contributed to consolidating Bahrain's status as a reliable regional and international partner.
He expressed pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain's assumption of the rotating presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Ambassador Al-Maliki renewed Bahrain's commitment to spare no effort during its presidency of the GCC to strengthen the Arabian Gulf cohesion and advancing joint GCC action to meet people aspirations.
Furthermore, he noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain has won a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for the period 2026-2027.
This election reflects the international community's confidence in the Kingdom's foreign policy he argued.
Ambassador Al-Maliki affirmed Bahrain's commitment to actively work to advance international peace and security, defend Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, enhance international cooperation in areas of sustainable development, youth and women's empowerment, and address global challenges.
