GAZA, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian civil defense authorities in Gaza Strip started an operation to unearth 100 bodies of martyrs who are believed to be buried alive during the war waged by the Israeli occupation forces on the Strip.
The search operation is highly complicated due to severe shortage of necessary machinery, spokesman of the civil defense Mahmoud Basal told reporters on Monday.
The teams had to use primitive tools while searching for martyrs under wreckage of a building in Gaza City.
They need at least 40 heavy machines to conduct the operation in an effective way, Basal said, urging the sponsors of Gaza ceasefire deal to help provide the necessary machines.
More than 9,500 martyrs had remained unaccounted for since the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, which took the Palestinian death toll to 70,373, besides 17,179 injuries, according to local health authorities. (end)
