(With SEC-PALESTINE-PRISONER-DEATH) CAIRO, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The Arab League called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to classify medical negligence by the Israeli occupation authorities a deliberate murder crime against the Palestinian detainees.
Responding to death of Abdulrahman Al-Sebateen, 21, in an Israeli occupation jail in Jerusalem earlier Wednesday, the Cairo-based League said this is the latest of crimes against humanity being committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
"This is the sixth case of a prisoner death in the Israeli occupation jails this year," the statement noted.
The statement considered it as a new crime added to the record of systematic crimes committed by Israeli occupation against Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
It pointed out that the crime is also a blatant violation of the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.
The policy of deliberate medical negligence practiced by the Israeli occupation against thousands of Palestinian detainees - including children, women, and the sick - is a form of slow killing and torture prohibited under international law, according to the statement.
The League also urged international community and humanitarian and rights organizations, topped with the International Committee of the Red Cross, to interfere so as to press Israel occupation to immediately release the body of Al-Sebateen and hand it over to his relatives. (end) mm.nsa.hm
