KUWAIT, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- The Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre (ASCC), in cooperation with the Kuwait Center for Autism, on Monday inaugurated the art exhibition "Me and the Sea" with the participation of several centers supporting people with special needs.
Rawan Al-Qahtani, head of the Centre's educational administration, told KUNA that the partnership aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035, which emphasizes strengthening cultural identity, empowering cultural institutions, and supporting community-oriented inclusion initiatives through interactive platforms that offer equal opportunities for all.
The exhibition, which runs until December 13, features around 67 artworks produced by various centers serving people with special needs.
The pieces include paintings, drawings in different styles and colors, models, and handicrafts expressing the participants' vision of the sea.
Al-Qahtani noted that the works highlight the creativity of children and youth and reflect their artistic abilities.
She said the exhibition aims to promote the inclusion of children and youth with special needs in cultural and artistic activities, provide them with a platform to express their talents, and display their capabilities to the community.
It also supports Kuwait's efforts toward a more inclusive society through programs that encourage participation, embrace diversity, and reinforce the role of cultural institutions in nurturing creativity.
Al-Qahtani added that the exhibition also contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, including inclusive and equitable quality education, reducing inequalities, and establishing sustainable cultural and educational spaces.
It further strengthens the role of museums and cultural centers as informal learning platforms that help build a more aware and accepting society. (end) mdm.hs
