KUWAIT, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- President of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Sheikh Ahmad Yusuf Al-Sabah announced Thursday the start of ticket sales for the French Super Cup (Trophأ©e des Champions) match between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille, scheduled for January 8 at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
Sheikh Ahmad said during a press conference at Zain's headquarters that the KFA aims to ensure the success of this major international event, hoping it will pave the way for similar future occasions that highlight Kuwait's capability to host major sporting events.
He noted that bringing PSG, the French league and cup champions, together with league runners-up Marseille marks a significant milestone for Kuwaiti football.
He added that the match reflects a new partnership between the KFA and the Public Authority for Youth and Sports to organize major events through 2026.
Sheikh Ahmad expressed appreciation for the event's sponsors, led by Zain and Kuwait Airways, whose support helped secure Kuwait's place as a host of major international sporting events.
He affirmed that sponsorship opportunities will remain open for future activities aimed at advancing sports in the country.
Zain Vice Chairman and Zain Group CEO Bader Al-Kharafi said hosting the French Super Cup aligns with Kuwait's vision to strengthen its regional and international sporting presence, showcasing the nation's talent and advanced infrastructure.
Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Al-Fagaan stressed the company's commitment to supporting national events, saying that hosting a global match watched by fans worldwide reflects Kuwait's strong regional standing and organizational capabilities.
Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Major Sporting Events Faisal Al-Yateem said the event demonstrates international confidence in Kuwait's ability to host tournaments at the highest standards.
He added that the committee, chaired by the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, is developing an integrated system to deliver exceptional experiences for athletes and fans while strengthening Kuwait's global sporting profile.
Al-Yateem noted that hosting the French Super Cup is part of a broader agenda that includes the 22nd Asian Men's Handball Championship qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Germany, and the World Powerboat Championship which was successfully held in November. (end) hms.dm
