RABAT, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- The President of World Water Council Loic Fauchon emphasized Monday on the potential of artificial intelligence and digital transformation to improve water management, predict crises, and strengthen smart grids, asserting that relying on data and scientific analysis can bring about a "real revolution" in water governance.
During the opening of the World Water Forum in Marrakech, Morocco, Fauchon called for the creation of an international water coalition to promote the exchange of expertise and the development of joint projects in the areas of innovation, digitalization, and renewable energy.
He stressed the importance of adopting new approaches that go beyond traditional solutions and allow for a profound transformation in water management.
Marrakech is hosting the 19th edition of the World Water Congress from December 1 to 5, which will bringing together more than 1,500 participants.
Organized by the Ministry of Equipment and Water of Morocco in partnership with the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), the global gathering is due to bring together experts, researchers, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives.
The event will be a platform for dialogue and innovation at a time when climate change, population growth, and technological transformation are reshaping societies and intensifying the need for sustainable water management.
Held under the theme "Water in a Changing World: Innovation and Adaptation," the congress looks to encourage the exchange of ideas and strengthen cooperation across disciplines to accelerate progress toward resilient and equitable water systems. (end)
