JEDDAH, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Taha expressed Monday solidarity with the government and people of Indonesia following the devastating floods that caused multiple fatalities and massive population displacement on the island of Sumatra.
In a press release, he also extended his heartfelt condolences and solace to the victims' families.
The OIC chief called on OIC Member States, as well as humanitarian and financial institutions and international partners, to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the displaced populations in Indonesia, as a sign of support for Indonesian authorities.
Hundreds of people were killed or injured in recent floods and landslides that hit northern and western areas of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. (end) fn.mt
