MANAMA, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya praised, in remarks to Bahraini counterpart Dr. Abdulatif Al-Zayani, as the president of the current GCC ministerial council session, the preparation by the kingdom to host the upcoming 46th GCC summit.
Al-Yahya expressed his thanks and appreciation for the kingdom leadership, government, and people for the exceptional preparation for the summit, which represent the deeply rooted relations in the Gulf.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister came in a speech delivered during his participation in the 166th session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), a preparatory meeting for the 46th GCC Summit of Leaders of the GCC States.
The meeting was attended by foreign ministers and representatives of the GCC member states, as well as the Secretary-General of the Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi.
Minister Al-Yahya congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain on assuming the presidency of the Supreme Council of the GCC for its 46th session, scheduled for December 3rd.
Al-Yahya expressed hopes that Bahrain's efforts would be crowned with success and guidance, thus strengthening the joint Gulf action and consolidating the GCC's regional and international presence and standing.
The Minister noted the efforts exerted embodies the spirit of brotherhood and shared destiny, and reflects the firmly established approach of cooperation and solidarity upon which this blessed organization has been founded since its inception.
Al-Yahya expressed his profound appreciation to the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council, the Assistant Secretaries-General, and all staff of the General Secretariat for their sincere efforts and clear professional vision, which contributed to the success of the State of Kuwait's presidency and the achievement of tangible positive results.
These results reflected the vitality of the Council and the solidity of its role as a leading and effective regional organization in its regional and international environment.
Al-Yahya added, "the State of Kuwait's presidency witnessed a wide range of summits, ministerial meetings, and meetings of committees and technical teams, as well as joint dialogues with numerous countries and international groups, in addition to specialized activities and events in various fields."
Al-Yahya pointed out that these qualitative efforts contributed to strengthening the path of joint Gulf cooperation, developing institutional work mechanisms, and consolidating the Council's position as a fundamental pillar in the regional security system and a reliable partner of the international community.
Earlier, Al-Yahya presided over the 166th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council Foreign Ministers' Council in Manama, capital of Bahrain, on Sunday.
The meeting reviewed the preparations for the 46th summit-level session of GCC Supreme Council and ways to enhance the progress of joint action in all areas, according to a statement from the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry. (Pickup Previous).
