1976 -- Kuwait's Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a decree relieving Arab and foreign aviation companies flying to Kuwait from taxes, provided the countries of these airlines treat Kuwaiti companies similarly.
1990 -- The UN Security Council issued Resolution 678 obligating Iraq to comply with all relevant UN resolutions and stipulating that force would be used if Iraq failed to withdraw from Kuwait by January 15, 1991.
