ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Pakistan's military confirmed on Thursday that 30 militants were killed in a series of security operations conducted in the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, which borders Afghanistan.
Earlier that day, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, reported that 23 militants had been killed by security forces in two separate engagements in the Kurram tribal district of KPK.
Another ISPR press release stated that an additional seven militants were killed in three separate engagements within the province.
The ISPR further detailed that an intelligence-based operation was carried out in the Mohmand tribal district, targeting reported militant presence.
During this operation, Pakistani troops engaged effectively with the militants' location, resulting in the deaths of four militants after an intense exchange of fire.
In another intelligence-based operation in the Lakki Marwat district of KPK, two more militants were neutralised during the ensuing firefight.
Additionally, in the Tank district, security forces successfully eliminated another militant.
Ongoing sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any remaining militants in the area.
The military's release emphasised the commitment of security forces and law enforcement agencies in Pakistan to continue their relentless counter-terrorism campaign at full speed to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Earlier in the week, the Pakistan military had confirmed the deaths of around 42 militants during counter-terrorism operations in KPK.
These operations are taking place amidst a rise in terror attacks, particularly in KPK and Balochistan provinces, which also border Afghanistan. (pickup previous)
