KUWAIT, Nov 12 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed on Wednesday that the signing of a cooperation agreement between Kuwait Airways and the national platform (Visit Kuwait) marks a qualitative step to build a modern tourism industry.
In his speech during the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Mutairi said that this step underscores the commitment of national institutions to supporting the transition to a diversified economy.
He explained that this cooperation with the national carrier represents a practical model of joint institutional work and expresses national awareness of the importance of integrating media and tourism to present a progressive image of Kuwait that reflects its regional and international standing.
Minister Al-Mutairi stated, "What we are witnessing today is a strategic step within an integrated national path to build a modern tourism communication system based on technology and creativity, unifying promotional efforts under one national umbrella that reflects Kuwait's cultural identity and highlights its unique capabilities and deep-rooted civilization, one that is able to compete in the future." He emphasized that tourism today has become an influential economic and developmental sector contributing to diversifying sources of national income, supporting investment and innovation, creating new opportunities for Kuwaiti youth, and enhancing cultural and human communication with the world around us.
The minister noted that this agreement translates that vision into action by unifying efforts between the Visit Kuwait platform, as the national front for tourism promotion, and Kuwait Airways, the national carrier, to provide visitors with an integrated experience combining comfort, authenticity, and modernity.
In a statement to reporters following the signing, Al-Mutairi explained that since the launch of the Visit Kuwait project, many initiatives have significantly contributed to enhancing and developing Kuwait's tourism system.
He pointed out that today's initiatives greatly help in applying new visions for developing Kuwait's tourism, especially since the Visit Kuwait platform initially had no institutional framework. "We studied global models," he said, "to create a platform dedicated to tourism development that listens to suggestions and feedback, helping shape our administrative progress. It is also a digital platform providing all services and information about Kuwait." Al-Mutairi added that the platform features an interactive map of all tourist sites, a range of events, and the digital guide Rashed, which provides users with all the information they need. He further explained that media outlets can now gain an integrated media perspective about the available events and locations, playing a vital role in presenting media visions that contribute to the development of this system and platform. "We are all partners," he said, "in maximizing the benefits of this platform and continuously developing it." For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Airways, Abdulmohsen Al-Fagaan, stated that the agreement represents an important and serious step toward supporting Kuwait's efforts to enhance its position on the regional and global tourism and cultural map.
Al-Fagaan added, "This cooperation embodies the role of Kuwait Airways as the country's national carrier and its first gateway to the world, carrying Kuwait's flag in the skies for more than seven decades, reflecting its firm commitment to supporting our beloved nation's vision in all arenas, both inside and outside the country." He pointed out that the Visit Kuwait platform is a pioneering national initiative that helps visitors discover Kuwait's rich opportunities, culture and unique experiences. He expressed pride in being an essential part of this platform, "not only as a transportation partner but also as a partner in vision and development, connecting Kuwait to the world." Al-Fagaan stressed that Kuwait Airways believes its duty extends beyond commercial operations to a greater national mission, serving Kuwait and promoting its cultural image globally.
He expressed hope that this cooperation will serve as a model for integration among state institutions, reflecting the spirit of national partnership founded on ambition and shared responsibility, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. (end) mdm.onm
