AMMAN, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- The International Family Conference, "The Family between Values and Contemporary Trends," kicked off Tuesday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with wide regional and international participation, highlighting policies and partnerships to protect families and expand women's role in society.
Kuwait's Supreme Council for Family Affairs Secretary General Mona Al-Mutairi told KUNA the Kuwaiti delegation aims to benefit from Jordan's experience in building partnerships among government bodies, civil society, and public-benefit and humanitarian organizations, and to apply successful models in Kuwait.
This aligns with the Council's work to provide social, legal, and awareness support, coordinate with public and private entities to preserve family cohesion, and expand women's opportunities for active participation in society, she explained.
Al-Mutairi is speaking in a session on protection from domestic violence and its impact on social integration, presenting Kuwait's experience and the Council's role in offering psychological and social services backed by legal support to foster safe, stable families.
The delegation seeks global best practices to strengthen partnerships and enhance the scope and safety of family services, she added.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of Kuwait's Women's Cultural and Social Society (WCSS) Haifa Al-Mousa said in a statement to KUNA that the Society is presenting a paper on the role of civil society and community initiatives in empowering families, highlighting practical social and economic support.
She emphasized exchanging expertise with regional and international institutions on women's empowerment and family support, noting such conferences help expand cooperation and adopt joint initiatives that strengthen family bonds and promote gender equality.
Kuwait's community driven efforts have produced tangible gains in family stability and capacity building, she said.
The three-day conference brings together specialists from Arab and foreign countries to deliver focused sessions and develop recommendations on family and society. (end)
