MADRID, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to Portugal Hamad Al-Hazeem affirmed on Tuesday his country's participation in the second edition of the Tech Arab Meet, held on the sidelines of the Web Summit in Lisbon, showcasing it youth potential and national initiatives. In remarks to KUNA late Monday, Al-Hazeem said the country's participation in the high-level events underscored its active contribution to global dialogue on the future of technology and strengthened its presence in the international digital arena He praised the Council of Arab Ambassadors for their role in endorsing and a unified Arab presence, highlighting Kuwait's advanced institutional and human capacities.
He noted that the former Minister of State of State for Communication Affairs and Minister of Youth, Dawood Marafie, was among the event's keynote speakers, describing it as a hub to deepen cooperation between European and Arab private sectors, as well as discuss joint projects in technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In his address, Marafie described Kuwait as a regional hub for developing AI, supported by the country's strategic location, modern legislation, and skilled youth contributing to the "New Kuwait 2035" vision. Marafie noted that Kuwait has aligned real investments with this talent base through national programs developed in partnership with global tech leaders like Google Cloud and Microsoft.
These initiatives, he added, reflect Kuwait's commitment to building sustainable digital capabilities that can design sovereign data infrastructures, financial technologies, and government services integrated with AI. Marafie also highlighted the GCC's large-scale investments in AI funds, cloud zones, high-performance computing centers, and regulatory bodies that oversee AI, underscoring a collective regional strategy to integrate AI into economic transformation.
He concluded that Kuwait's stable economy, strategic location, and forward-looking policies make it a safe, open, and promising platform for global technology partners seeking to build the future of innovation together.
