GAZA, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupation authorities continued preventing entry of sufficient quantities of food and medicine into Gaza Strip, allowing only a small portion of the materials to enter since the ceasefire came into effect.
Only 4,453 trucks out of the 15,600 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid were allowed to enter the strip since the ceasefire took place, the government media office said in a press statement.
About 31 trucks were loaded with cooking gas, another 84 diesel trucks were designated for operating bakeries, hospitals, electric generators and vital sectors, the statement explained.
Average number of trucks entering the sector daily since enforcing the ceasefire is only 171 out of 600 trucks that are supposed to enter daily according to the humanitarian protocol.
The occupation confirms continuation of its policy of strangulation, starvation and political blackmail against more than 2.4 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
T he statement pointed out that the occupation deprives civilians in Gaza of more than 350 types of basic foodstuffs, while allowing entry of larger quantities of goods he described as "devoid of nutritional value," such as soft drinks and processed meals.
Gaza media office reiterated readiness of the governmental authorities in the strip to facilitate and coordinate entry and distribution of humanitarian aid in cooperation with UN, Arab, and international organizations, ensuring its delivery to all governorates and vital centers for the benefit of the Palestinian people.
