KUWAIT, Nov 5 (KUNA) - The preparatory meeting for the 42nd Conference of Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries launched Wednesday in Kuwait, chaired by Acting Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Interior and head of the current session, Major General Ali Al-Adwani.
Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Interior of the GCC States, members of delegations and representatives of the GCC Secretariat will participate in the meeting.
In his opening remarks, Al-Adwani extended the greetings of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, and his wishes of a successful meeting.
Al-Adwani underscored the importance of collective security among GCC countries, noting the current phase demands enhanced security and technical integration, shifting from coordination to unified Gulf-wide action.
He stressed that Kuwait's leadership, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Hamad Al-Sabah, is deeply committed to bolstering Gulf cooperation, especially on security, as it considers Gulf-wide stability indivisible and foundational to regional prosperity.
The meeting is a key step in advancing consultation and exchanging views on developing a practical joint-security framework, applying unified strategies to enhance the efficiency of security apparatuses and crystallize a cohesive Gulf stance on current and future challenges, he added.
Al-Adwani emphasized the necessity of practical, constructive recommendations to be submitted to the upcoming ministers' meeting.
The session covered items on the agenda aimed at strengthening joint GCC security cooperation, reviewing the latest regional security developments and coordinating efforts and objectives required at this stage. (end)
