BEIJING, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping called for steady sailing forward of the ship of China-US relations, on Thursday.
"In the face of winds, waves and challenges, we should stay the right course, navigate through the complex landscape, and ensure the steady sailing forward of the giant ship of China-US relations,"
He made the remarks during a meeting with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, in South Korean city of Busan, where the two exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, reported Xinhua, the state-run news agency.
Xi noted that President Trump is keen on settling various regional hotspot issues and China has also been promoting peace talks to resolve various hotspot issues.
China's development and revitalization goes hand in hand with President Trump's vision, remarked Xi, adding China and the United States should work together to accomplish more great and concrete things for the good of their two countries and the whole world.
"China and the United States should be partners and friends. That is what history has taught us and what reality needs," he said.
This is the first meeting joining the two Presidents since Trump's return to the White House, and is taking place on the sidelines of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea. (end)
