DOHA, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- The second West Asian Archery Championship kicked off on Wednesday at the Lusail Shooting Complex in Doha and will run until November 3.
Featuring about 100 archers of nine countries, including Kuwait, the tournament opened with official training sessions for both the Olympic and compound archery competitions, while the second day will witness qualifying rounds for the two events.
On Friday, the knockout rounds for the Olympic and compound archery and mixed teams will take place. The eliminations will continue on Saturday with individual competitions of both categories.
Speaking to KUNA Secretary General of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, Obaid Al-Osaimi noted that partaking in such tournaments contributes to boosting athletes' technical level.
Beside Kuwait and the host Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, and Syria are competing as well. (end)
