KUWAIT, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC) announced Tuesday it will host the 2025 Middle East and North Africa edition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Conference on November 26-27 in collaboration with KFAS.
KPTC CEO Mansour Al-Saad said during a press conference that the event, themed "Shaping the Future of Public Transport in the Middle East and North Africa," will discuss the latest trends and innovative mobility solutions.
He affirmed that hosting the conference aligns with Kuwait's Vision 2035 and the Fourth Structural Plan, aiming to enhance infrastructure, sustainability, and the transition toward integrated and smart transport systems.
Al-Saad explained that the event will highlight strategic projects such as the GCC railway, metro, and bus rapid transit systems to promote smart, sustainable cities and make public transport the preferred mobility choice.
He noted that the UITP conference will attract global leaders, experts, and decision-makers, underscoring Kuwait's growing role as a regional hub for innovation in transportation and sustainable mobility solutions.
Al-Saad emphasized that the conference will serve as both a scientific and practical platform linking policy, innovation, and expertise to shape the future of public transport in Kuwait and the wider region.
He praised the strong partnership with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), describing it as a successful model of collaboration between the public sector and scientific research institutions.
UITP MENA Chairman Hashem Al-Hindawi said Kuwait has historically led such initiatives, hosting the first UITP regional conference decades ago, adding that its return to Kuwait marks a renewed phase of cooperation.
He stressed that the conference will provide a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and discussions on balancing economic efficiency with social and environmental responsibility in public transport systems.
The UITP MENA 2025 Conference will bring together transport leaders to share experiences, build trust among stakeholders, and develop innovative models to advance the region's public transport networks. (end) maa.ahm
