BEIRUT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's Public Health Ministry said Thursday that two people were killed in Israeli occupation airstrikes in eastern Lebanon.
In a statement, the ministry's Emergency Operations Center reported one death in Janta area and another in Shmastar after strikes hit the eastern and western mountain ranges.
Earlier, Israeli occupation aircraft carried out multiple raids around Baalbek district, including the Janta highlands and several sites on the outskirts of Shmastar.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Education Minister Rima Karami said in a press statement strikes near Shmastar Public High School and Taraya High School shattered windows and facades, causing panic among students and sending families to pick up their children.
She urged major powers to press for an end to attacks hitting schools and civilians.
Israeli occupation forces have continued attacks in Lebanon despite a cessation of hostilities agreement that took effect in November, targeting areas, cars, and motorcycles. (end) ayb.lr
