KUWAIT, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Society for the Handicapped on Wednesday launched an art exhibition for people with disabilities under the theme "Paintings of Determination and Beauty" at The Avenues Gallery, featuring works by Society members and running until October 28.
Speaking to KUNA at the opening, Chairperson Sabika Al-Jasser said the exhibition is the outcome of a training program the Society is holding for the fifth time, sponsored by Kuwait Finance House (KFH) and in cooperation with Kuwait Art Studio, to highlight the talents of people with disabilities and support their social inclusion through fine arts.
The exhibition features 12 artworks created by students with disabilities, Al-Jasser added, noting that the pieces reflect strong will and creativity and embody perseverance and hope.
She affirmed the Society's keenness to support and encourage people with disabilities to excel and participate actively in various fields.
For her part, Dr. Jawaher Al-Bader, visual artist and training supervisor, told KUNA that the exhibition is based on the premise that "disability is not an obstacle to creativity," noting that art serves as a refined human means of expression, communication, and breaking barriers.
Participants underwent an intensive workshop during which they demonstrated great enthusiasm and a strong ability to express their feelings through painting, Al-Bader added, pointing out that the exhibited works bear personal imprints and distinctive visual perspectives that reflect diverse experiences and deep artistic sensibility.
She expressed gratitude to all supporters and partners who contributed to the exhibition's success, which aims to enhance public awareness of disability issues and highlight the creativity of people with disabilities as an integral part of Kuwaiti society. (end)
