KUWAIT, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, affirmed Sunday Kuwait's commitment to promoting and protecting human rights, highlighting the country's constitutional provisions that align with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Her remarks to KUNA came following a meeting with the Chairman of the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights, Counselor Mohammad Al-Shehhi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during his visit to Kuwait.
Sheikha Jawaher noted that the Kuwaiti constitution includes several articles that uphold family protection, justice, equality, freedom, free education, and the right to healthcare.
She emphasized the vital role played by the Arab Charter Committee in advancing human rights awareness across the region.
Kuwait has submitted its second national report to the Committee, which is scheduled for discussion later this year.
Sheikha Jawaher reviewed the country's recent efforts and achievements in human rights, stating that the current visit is part of the routine process leading up to the report's review.
She expressed her hope for continued cooperation between the Ministry and the Arab Charter Committee, through joint efforts such as exchange visits, workshops, and training programs aimed at further embedding a culture of human rights.
The Committee Chair and his accompanying delegation are expected to visit various government institutions to review progress, understand operations, and discuss key challenges related to human rights. (end) nma.dm
