BEIRUT, Oct 14 (KUNA) -- France announced on Tuesday that it will organize two conferences to support the Lebanese Army and the reconstruction of Lebanon.
This came in a statement by the Lebanese Presidency saying that President Joseph Aoun received a letter from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron affirming his support for Lebanon before the end of the year.
The French President affirmed his intention in organizing a conference to support the Lebanese Army, pointing out that it is "the cornerstone in achieving national sovereignty," and organizing another conference to help rebuild Lebanon, said the statement.
It pointed out that President Macron in his letter stressed on the strong friendship between the two countries and affirming support in all fields.
The French President expressed his happiness with the decision taken by the UN Security Council in August to renew the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), saying, "I commend the courageous decisions you have taken to ensure the exclusive control of arms by the legitimate Lebanese forces," it added.
