KUWAIT, Oct 14 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, accompanied by ministers, inspected the new Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC) in the Sabah Health Region on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the weekly Cabinet meeting held at the site.
Speaking to KUNA, Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi said the project is a major step in regional oncology care and part of the ministry's plan to expand specialized services to international standards, reducing the need for treatment abroad.
The center will comprise two medical towers with 618 beds, a central services building, and parking for about 1,950 vehicles, he explained.
Facilities include modern operating rooms, intensive care units (ICUs), specialized oncology wards, radiotherapy units, and physiotherapy, with advanced equipment such as linear accelerators, computed tomography (CT) simulators, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as well as diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, central laboratories, and a central pharmacy.
The project supports health infrastructure upgrades and capacity expansion in line with Kuwait Vision 2035, and will link medical, academic, and research work in oncology, Dr. Al-Awadhi added.
During the tour, His Highness the Prime Minister and ministers were briefed by Dr. Al-Awadhi, Acting Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering and Project Affairs at MoH Ibrahim Al-Naham, and other officials. (end) jy.aa.lr
