BERLIN, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Germany pledged on Monday to provide at least 100 million euros (around USD 116 million) in development aid for Gaza, aimed primarily at supporting reconstruction efforts across the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.
Minister of Development and Economic Cooperation, Reem Alabali-Radovan, stated that the funds will include assistance previously frozen after October 7, emphasizing the urgency of restoring essential infrastructure and vital community services.
She added that transitional aid such as prefabricated homes and daily necessities will also be provided, stressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza requires unified international and regional efforts to address urgent needs.
The minister reaffirmed Chancellor Friedrich Merz's recent statement that Germany, in coordination with Egypt, will organize a Gaza reconstruction conference, expected to be held within the coming weeks to coordinate rebuilding initiatives. (end) anj.ahm
