CAIRO, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi has affirmed the necessity of entirely applying all provisions of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement on ending the war in Gaza.
This came during a telephone call between Al-Sisi and his Cypriot peer Nikos Christodoulides who together discussed the latest developments in the Middle East region topped with the deal for Gaza and mutual relations between the two sides, presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy said in a press release on Saturday.
Al-Sisi reviewed with Christodoulides the most outstanding provisions of the deal, stressing the importance of halting the war, the release of hostages and prisoners, securing humanitarian aid entry and starting rebuilding the Strip, according to the release.
Al-Sisi indicated that Egypt has exerted efforts over the past two years, in coordination with Qatar and the US, to end the war and Palestinian people's humanitarian suffering, it noted.
He emphasized the importance of the presence of international forces in Gaza and granting international legitimacy to the agreement through the Security Council.
Al-Sisi invited the Cypriot leader to partake in the ceremony to be held in Egypt on signing the deal, Al-Shennawy noted.
Egypt's leader revealed his country is planning to host an international conference for the early recovery and rebuilding.
Meanwhile, Christodoulides expressed his country's full welcome of this deal, affirming support to its application and extolling Egypt's pivotal role in facilitating reaching the deal.
The two sides agreed on building on the outcomes of the summit held in January in a manner that contributes to expanding collaboration in some sectors like agriculture, tourism and others of mutual interest. (end) aff.hm
