Sarah Al-Hasawi, Kuwait's Diplomatic Attache, addressed the UN General Assembly's Second Committee, highlighting the need for a more humane and equitable approach to globalization amid rising economic, environmental, and technological challenges.
She raised concerns about middle-income countries, which represent over 70 percent of the global population and face mounting pressures, including rising debt and the demands of green transformation.
Al-Hasawi called for comprehensive support and reform of international financial systems to better measure poverty and national capacities beyond GDP.
She stressed the importance of equitable climate finance, aiming for at least USD 300 billion annually for developing countries by 2035, as per the Seville Commitment document.
Highlighting Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development's (KFAED) role since 1961, she expressed pride in Kuwait hosting the Digital Cooperation Organization's fifth session in 2025 and welcomed the "Global Digital Compact.
