AMMAN, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Jordan welcomed on Thursday the ceasefire agreement reached in the Gaza Strip and the execution of the first phase of the deal, leading to the withdrawal of Israeli occupation troops and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi welcomed in a statement the great efforts on the part of Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye and the US to reach the deal.
He lauded US President Donald Trump for taking a decisive role in achieving the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, supporting reconstruction efforts, and pushing for sustainable peace in the region through gesture such as his refusal to Israeli occupation attempts to annex the West Bank.
Safadi stressed the need on all parties to abide by the deal to end the war and address the aftermath of the aggression.
He called for supporting all efforts to allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, affirming that his country would abide by its humanitarian role to deliver assistance in coordination with the international community and the UN.
He also affirmed that Jordan would work tirelessly to achieve sustainable and comprehensive peace in the region via ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian independent state within 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and International legitimacy.
