KUWAIT, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Chairman Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf Al-Sabah signed on Tuesday a contract with Chairman of France's Professional Football League (LFP) Arnaud Rouger to host the French Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille on January 8, 2026.
This came during a conference held today in the presence of French Ambassador to Kuwait Olivier Gauvin and head of Matchworld Football company; which will organize the event, Marc Biolley.
Hosting the French Super Cup comes upon the directives of the political leadership on organizing major sport events, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf said.
A delegation from the LFP visited Kuwait to be briefed on the preparations for the event, he added, noting that the delegation was pleased by the facilities of Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, along with Jaber Al-Mubarak and Ali Sabah Al-Salem stadiums.
The match is globally significant as it brings together the French League and UEFA Champions League title-holder Paris Saint-Germain, and Marseille, whose players have high technical abilities, he said.
Ticket purchasing mechanisms and outlets will be revealed in the upcoming period, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf pointed out.
The KFA agreed with Kuwait Airways to present offers to audience across the globe and attract the largest number of fans, he said.
Meanwhile, Rouger said KFA submitted the best offer for hosting the match.
The French Football Federation will assign the referees due to sensitivity of the match, he noted. (end) sad.msa.hm
