ISLAMABAD, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- At least seven "Indian sponsored terrorists" were killed in a security operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, Pakistan's military said on Friday.
According to a press release by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Sherani District of Balochistan, on reported presence of terrorists belonging to "Indian proxy."
During the conduct of the operation, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists' location, and after an intense exchange of fire, "Seven Indian sponsored terrorists" were killed, confirmed ISPR.
It further said that weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.
"Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism from the country, and reaffirm the nation's unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of terrorism to justice, the release concluded.
Last Wednesday, the military claimed to kill at least 13 "terrorists belonging to Indian proxy" in two separate operations in Balochistan.
The operations come at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end)
