KUWAIT, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kuwait, Mazen Aboulhosn, on Wednesday praised Kuwait's efforts and notable progress in improving its global ranking in combating human trafficking.
Aboulhosn told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait's continuous efforts, led by the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, alongside all concerned ministries, reflect strong political will and solid institutional commitment toward improving its global standing.
He added that such progress affirms Kuwait's commitment to international standards through launching the national strategy to combat trafficking in persons 2025-2028, focused on legal framework development, a national referral system, capacity-building, and enhancing regional and international cooperation.
He noted that the IOM mission reaffirms its full support and commitment to working alongside Kuwait's authorities, aiming to integrate globally and achieve top-tier status in the coming years.
Minister of Justice and Chair of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling, Counselor Nasser Al-Sanea, said Tuesday that Kuwait's ranking in the 2025 US State Department Report improved from Tier 2 Watch List, where it had remained for three consecutive years to Tier 2.
