KUWAIT, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil announced Wednesday the launch of the virtual broadcaster "Nouf," who began presenting news bulletins using virtual reality (VR) technologies and 360-degree video, a first of its kind among ministries and the oil sector in Kuwait.
This was a new qualitative achievement that added to the list of accomplishments of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Ministry.
In a statement, the Ministry said that this unique experience gives viewers the opportunity to follow the news bulletin using innovative interactive mechanisms, where they can watch it without the need to wear VR glasses, simply by moving their smartphones.
The virtual broadcaster appears from different angles while delivering the bulletin, whether standing or sitting, with dynamic visual backgrounds that reflect the news content.
The statement also quoted the Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Ministry, Sheikha Tamader Al-Sabah, affirming that this project embodies the Ministry's commitment to digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence tools in media, placing digital transformation at the forefront of its priorities and in implementation of the "New Kuwait 2035" vision.
She added that they are proud to launch this new step, which represents a qualitative shift in media communication tools and methods and reflects the ministry's efforts to keep pace with global developments in the fields of digital media and artificial intelligence.
She explained that the Ministry of Oil has allowed the public to experience this through a test video available on YouTube. (end) km.res
