KUWAIT, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) held a training workshop titled "Strengthening Partnerships with External Entities on Restoring Family Links (RFL)," in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and with officials from the Ministries of Social Affairs, Interior, and Foreign Affairs participating.
Speaking to KUNA on Wednesday, KRCS Director General Fawaz Al-Mazrouei said the workshop supports efforts to develop humanitarian programs and upgrade rapid-response mechanisms for family links services in line with international standards.
It aims to boost the readiness of KRCS staff and volunteers in RFL, a priority area where the Society mobilizes resources to reunite families, he said.
KRCS initiatives proved effective during the COVID-19 pandemic, when a hotline was launched for cases inside and outside Kuwait, along with specialized courses and workshops to train personnel and volunteers, Al-Mazrouei noted.
Broad institutional participation will strengthen joint efforts and help sustain RFL programs, he added.
Meanwhile, ICRC Regional Protection Coordinator Ynske Vandormael told KUNA that the ICRC remains committed to supporting National Societies worldwide in restoring family links, underscoring the importance of such humanitarian work in giving hope to families of the missing.
She commended KRCS-ICRC cooperation in reconnecting separated families and KRCS' role in preserving family bonds under difficult circumstances. (end) slm.nwf.lr
