GENEVA, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reaffirmed the necessity of reaching an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, welcoming all outcomes of the high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian issue through implementation of the two-state solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, which was recently held in New York.
This statement was made by Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations and Chairman of the Council of Ambassadors of the GCC, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen on Monday, during a dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Palestine. GCC countries expressed support for international efforts recognizing the State of Palestine, he said. He also welcomed the recent report by the Independent Commission of Inquiry, which concluded that the crimes committed by occupation forces in Gaza constitute genocide Furthermore, Ambassador Al-Hayen stressed the urgent need to release hostages and detainees, protect civilians, and facilitate the immediate, uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid.(end) amk.ahs
