VIENNA, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Slovenia, an EU and NATO member, announced on Thursday that it had designated the Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "persona non grata" after it prevented hardline Israeli occupation officials from entering the country.
In an official statement on X, the Slovenian government asserted that the decision was meant to send a clear message to the Israeli occupation government that it must respect humanitarian and international laws or face consequences.
It affirmed that Netanyahu was also facing a legal case pertaining to war crimes against humanity.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had ruled in July 2024 that many of the policies carried out by the Israeli occupation constituted a violation to international law and human rights, saying that the global community must take a decisive stance against such violations.
The Slovenian government affirmed through the statement its commitment to world peace and the global values of human rights.
Slovenia is one of the most staunch European countries when it came to criticizing Netanyahu's policies especially when it came to the war on the Gaza Strip. (end) amq.gta
