BRUSSELS, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to EU and NATO Nawaf Al-Enezi said the exports of his country to Belgium went up by 10 percent to USD 437 million in the first five months of 2025.
The State of Kuwait, though small in geographical size, is one of the leading countries in terms of investment and trade around the globe, he told KUNA on Friday.
Kuwait's GDP topped USD 160 billion, he said, attributing the prosperity and economic growth of Kuwait to firm partnerships with global corporations and major economies.
Ambassador Al-Enezi made the comments after taking part in the 12th edition of the seminar of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC).
The annual event, themed this year "Doing Business with Arab Countries," was held on September 17 in partnership between the ABLCC and SGS at the latter's premises in Noorderlaan city, Antwerp Province, north Belgium.
It focused on the business environments of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Al-Enezi noted that a Belgian delegation, made up of 60 business people and representing more than 40 corporations, visited Kuwait recently to explore investment opportunities particularly in the areas of infrastructure, renewable energy, technology and medial services.
"Kuwait's new foreign direct investment law will enable foreign investors to own 100 percent stakes in new ventures, thus reflecting a more competitive investment atmosphere in the country," he pointed out.
He noted that New Kuwait Vision 2035 offers ample opportunities for investors in such mega projects as the northern free trade zone, the new international airport, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, the Gulf Railway, the air cargo city, and Shagaya Renewable Energy Park.
"The energy park project aims produce 15 percent of Kuwait's needs of clean energy," the diplomat went on. Ambassador Al-Enezi commended the relations with the European Union, saying that the EU is Kuwait's biggest trade partner as the bilateral trade volume soared to USD 15.2 billion last year.
He reaffirmed Kuwait's backing to the free trade talks between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. (end) arn.abk.gb
