NEW YORK, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- The UN General Assembly approved on Friday a draft resolution endorsing the participation of a Palestinian delegation in the General Assembly
High-level Week 2025.
The resolution was passed by 145 votes against five with six abstentions, according to a UNGA Press release.
The resolution entitles Palestine to present a statement to President of the UN General Assembly which will be read at the general high-level discussion next week.
Under the resolution, the State of Palestine can deliver statements via videolink to the events of the High-Level Week on the settlement of the question of Palestine and the two-state solution.
The UN General Assembly expressed regret about the decision, made by the US State Dept. on August 29, to deny Palestinian officials visas to attend the 80th session of the General Assembly.
The 80th session of the UN General Assembly, themed "Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights," comes at a pivotal moment to renew global commitment to multilateralism, solidarity and shared action for people and planet.
This year's high-level week highlights the urgency of delivering on the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals and reinvigorating global cooperation. (end)
