BRUSSELS, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Tuesday that she had spoken with US President Donald Trump about ways to enhance cooperative efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia through additional measures.
In a post on the X platform, von der Leyen said that the European Commission will soon present its 19th sanctions package, targeting the cryptocurrency, banking, and energy sectors. She emphasized that "Russia's war economy, fueled by fossil fuel revenues, finances the bloodshed in Ukraine." She affirmed that the commission will propose accelerating the phase-out of Russian fossil fuel imports to halt that funding. (end) arn.ara
