AMMAN, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Jordan condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation army's expansion of its ground operation in Gaza and the intensification of air strikes and attacks on the Strip, considering this a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws.
In a statement, Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Fuad Majali affirmed his country's strong condemnation and absolute rejection of the continued brutal Israeli aggression and the expansion of the ground operation in Gaza, a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions.
The occupation is attempting to impose new facts on the ground by force and displace Palestinians from their land, as an extension of the crimes and systematic targeting of civilians, hospitals, journalists, medical personnel, and civilian objects in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation, and its use of siege and starvation as weapons of displacement, the spokesman added.
He also went on calling on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and compel the Israeli occupation to immediately halt its aggression against Gaza, ensure the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid into the Strip, and halt its dangerous escalation in the region.
The spokesman emphasized the need for concerted international efforts to fulfil the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, halt the crimes against them, and hold those responsible accountable.
